TAMA- Edith J. Michal, 90, a resident of Grandview Acres in Toledo and formerly of Tama, passed away Wednesday evening, October 4, 2006 at the care center surrounded by her family due to a short illness. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, October 7, 2006 at 10:30 AM at the Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama. Interment will follow at the Haven Cemetery, rural Tama. Visitation will be held Friday, October 6, 2006 from 4-7 PM at the Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home, Tama.
Edith J. Michal was born on December 24, 1915 in Tama County, the daughter of Joseph and Julia (Prusha) Hlavacek.
She married Milo Dvorak in 1934. He passed away in 1940. She married Frank Michal in 1944. He passed away in 1973.
Edith enjoyed playing cards, gardening, cooking, and baking for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Preceding Edith in death was her parents; two husbands; one sister, Lucille Lekin; and one brother, Frank Hlavacek.
Survivors include one son, Norman Dvorak of Chelsea; two daughters, Betty Upah of Tama and Karen (Marc) McBride of Hartford; one sister, Ruth Whitsell of Toledo; twelve grandchildren, Debra (Doug) Dolezal of Toledo, Sherry Anderson of Toledo, Tom (Debbie) Dvorak of Chelsea, Kellie (Scott) Yuska of Urbandale, Cindy (Ken) Bidwell of Tama, Randy (Julie) Upah of Chelsea, Gary (Jayme) Upah of Tama, John (Cindy) Upah of Kelly, Mark (Rhonda) Upah of Texas, Todd (Nicole) Upah of Toledo, Mike (Danielle) McBride of Hartford, and Matt McBride and friend Stephanie of Des Moines; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
