Edna Janette Fulton, age 92, of Tama died Saturday, July 11, 2009 at Carrington Place in Toledo under the care of Iowa Hospice. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Living Faith United Methodist Church in Tama with Pastor Jerry Avise-Rouse officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Tama. Visitation will be held from 10:00 until 11:00 AM Tuesday at the church
Edna was born on January 20, 1917 in Tama the daughter of Arthur Vincent and Stella (Eaton) Fulton. She graduated from Tama High School and Monmouth College in Monmouth, IL where she majored in math. After college, she taught school for one year and then started working for an insurance company in Illinois. She moved to Des Moines in 1948 and began working for Farm Bureau Life Insurance Company. Edna retired from Farm Bureau after more than thirty years of service. She was named a fellow in the Life Office Management Association. Edna was a member of Living Faith United Methodist Church in Tama and was also a Mensa scholar. She was a world traveler and also enjoyed crosswords and other puzzles. In her retirement years, Edna enjoyed golf as well as volunteering at the Tama Public Library.
Preceding her in death were her parents; and a brother, Lester Fulton.
Survivors include two brothers, Harold (Marge) Fulton of Ankeny, and Floyd (Jean) Fulton of Ft. Myers, FL; one sister, Ruth (Murwin) Barnes of West Des Moines; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
A memorial fund has been established.
