TAMA-Edward J. Kacer, 78, of Tama, passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at the Iowa River Hospice House in Marshalltown. Memorial Services will be held Monday, February 6, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home with Pastor Rob Saak and Rev. Dewey Grimes officiating. Memorial Visitation will be held on Monday, February 6, 2012 from 10 to 11 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Edward was born on June 17, 1933 in Tama, Iowa, the son of Joe and Anna (Vojtech) Kacer.
He graduated from Tama High School in 1951. Edward served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
On August 19, 1957, he was united in marriage to Judy Ebersole at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Edward farmed south of Tama on the family farm. He enjoyed collecting stamps and watching birds and other wildlife.
Preceding him in death were his parents; one son, Joey Kacer; one sister, Louise Gessner; and one infant great-grandson, Ricky Snider.
Survivors include his wife, Judy of Tama; three children, Jill (Rick) Snider of Marshalltown, Debbie (David) Hemby of Tama, and Mike (Sarah) Kacer of Tama; four grandchildren, Eddie and Davy Hemby, Stephanie Sparrow, and Dennis (Nicky) Snider; four great-grandchildren, Alyssa Coop, Jeremiah Snider, Eleanor Snider, and Leanna Snider.
A memorial fund has been established.
