TOLEDO- Elaine Faye Dostal, age 79, of Toledo and formerly of Elberon, died Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at Carrington Place of Toledo. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 12, 2010 at 10:00 AM at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Clutier with Father Michael Mescher as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery in rural Clutier. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 11, 2010 from 4-7 PM at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Clutier with a Vigil Service at 7 PM.
Elaine was born on June 22, 1930, in Gladbrook, Iowa, the daughter of Godfried and Lillian (Luethje) Otto.
She attended Gladbrook schools and graduated from Reinbeck High School.
On June 27, 1949, she was united in marriage to Arthur Dostal at the Immaculate Conception Church in Clutier. They farmed all of their married life. She was a member of Good Neighbors, The Homemakers Club, Clutier American Legion and the 40 & 8 Club, Catholic Foresters and the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Chelsea. Elaine enjoyed fishing, gardening, sewing, playing cards and traveling.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Arthur in 2008; one son, Edward in 1977; one daughter, Katherine Freeman in 1979; and one brother, Marvin Otto.
Survivors include three sons, Merle (Marlene) Dostal of Clutier, Jeffrey (Nancy) Dostal of Tama, and Chris (Dennis Keleshian) Dostal of Philadelphia, PA; six grandchildren, Kate (Kasey) Backen, Jacqulyn (Jerimi) Kopsa, Kelli (Levi) Smith, Cory (Sarah) Dostal, Jeremy Dostal and Brent Dostal; eight great-grandchildren, Gabe and Emma Backen, Kaden and Ella Kopsa, Lilly, Jordan and Peyton Dostal and Livia Smith; one daughter-in-law, Annie Conover of Fair Oaks, California; one son-in-law, Steve Freeman of Reno, NV; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial fund has been established.
