Elaine L. Lenhart, 89, of Tama, passed away Sunday, August 9, 2015 at Premier Estates of Toledo under the care of Iowa River Hospice. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, August 13, 2015 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Tama with Pastor Warren Riley officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Tama. Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 12, 2015 from 4-7 PM at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Tama.
Elaine was born on March 30, 1926, in Tama, Iowa, the daughter of August and Johanna (Frahm) Willer.
She graduated from Tama High School in 1944.
On June 26, 1949, she was united in marriage to William G. Lenhart at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Tama. They farmed together three miles south of Tama. Over the years, Elaine taught country school, worked in the telephone billing office, the Rexall Drug Store, and the office of J.H. Neil Creamery Company. Elaine was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Tama where she was baptized, confirmed, sang in the choir, attended Lydia Circle, and led the Sunday School music. Elaine enjoyed crocheting prayer shawls and quilting. She also liked to read and attend book club at the Tama Public Library.
Survivors include her children, Bruce (Marcia) Lenhart of Keystone, Denise (Neil) Lawton of Inwood and Brad (Donna) Lenhart of Storm Lake; eight grandchildren, Leah (Judd) Heidemann, Lance (Jocelyn) Lenhart, Lucas (Emily) Lenhart, Logan (April) Lenhart, Blair (Becky) Lawton, Keely Lawton, Elisha (Jeff) Kirchmann, and Alexander Lenhart; nine great-grandchildren, Tate and Mira Heidemann, Jack and Peyton Lenhart, Harper and Henry Lenhart, Brandon and Sophia Lenhart, and Grace Lawton; one sister, Ethel Clark of California; three sisters-in-law, Norma Lenhart of Toledo, Bernice Willer of Des Moines, and Sharilyn Willer of Davis, IL; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, William on July 3, 2003; two brothers, Marvin "Bud" and Roger Willer.
A memorial fund has been established.
