TAMA-Eldon Raymond Florke, age 70, of Tama, died on Monday, July 14, 2008 at his home in Tama following a sudden illness. Funeral Services will be held Friday, July 18, 2008 at 10:30 AM at the Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Pastor Dewey Grimes officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 17, 2008 from 4-7 PM at the Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama. Interment will be held on Monday, July 21, 2008 at 2 PM at Greenwood Cemetery in Pierson, Iowa.
Eldon Raymond Florke was born on December 28, 1937, in Correctionville, Iowa, the son of Raymond and Edna (Petersen) Florke.
He graduated from Pierson High School and continued his education through the military. Eldon served his country during the Korean War in the US Marine Corps and the US Army.
On March 31, 1965, he was united in marriage to Betty Peipkorn in Las Vegas, NV. He was employed by the Federal Government as a USDA inspector for his entire career. Eldon enjoyed fishing and camping in his spare time and he dabbled in golf.
Preceding him in death were his father and one brother, Jerry.
Survivors include his wife, Betty of Tama; five children, Rose Meppelink of Tama, Lee Florke of Toledo, Edward Florke of Tama, Donny Florke of Toledo, and Tina Florke of Montour; his mother, Edna Florke of Sutherland; five grandchildren, Bryan and Levi Meppelink, Chance Buffalo, Raymond and Hunter Florke; three sisters, Bonnie (Dale) Klave of Cherokee, Betty Tunink of Linn Grove, and Sandra Gerth of Des Moines; and two brothers, Jim (Deb) Florke of North Platte, NE and Roger (Molly) Florke of Manhattan, KS.
A memorial fund has been established.
