TOLEDO-Eleanor H. (Posusta) Kupka, age 88, of Toledo, formerly of Clutier, died Thursday, January 14, 2010 at Carrington Place in Toledo. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 18, 2010 at 10:00 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama with Father Michael Mescher as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery in rural Clutier. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 17 from 4 to 7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Eleanor was born on October 4, 1921 in rural Toledo, the daughter of Frank and Anna (Podhajsky) Posusta.
On October 28, 1941, she was united in marriage to William Joseph Kupka at the Holy Trinity Church in rural Toledo. She formerly was a cook at the North Tama School, Dick's Restaurant in Toledo, King Tower in Tama, and Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer. Eleanor was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama, Catholic Foresters and Rosary Society. She was also a member of the Toledo American Legion Auxiliary and the Carroll Township Homemakers. In her earlier years, she was involved in 4H. Eleanor loved to cook and enjoyed playing cards and traveling.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, William in 1988; one son, Gary in 2009; a daughter, Mary in infancy; three brothers, George, Bill and Ernie Posusta; and one sister, Lillian Hayek.
Survivors include her children, Betty (Ron) Wagner of Marshalltown, Don (Nancy) Kupka of Elberon, Duane Kupka of Elberon, Steve (Deb) Kupka of Clutier, and Mike (Tracy) Kupka of Manchester; thirteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; one brother, Art (Betty) Posusta of Toledo; two sisters-in-law, Arlene Posusta of Traer and Helen Posusta of Tama; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial fund has been established.
