Obituary

TOLEDO- Eleanor Marie Twiselton, 79, a current resident of the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown and formerly of Toledo passed away Thursday, November 10, 2011 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, November 17, 2011 at 10:00 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo. Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 16, 2011 from 4-7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Eleanor was born August 19, 1932, in Toledo, Iowa, the daughter of Kenneth and Dorothy (Papesh) Young.
She graduated from Toledo High School in 1950. She completed her nursing program in Marshalltown from 1968-1969.
On June 20, 1950, she was united in marriage to Clarence Darwin Twiselton at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa
Eleanor formerly was a nurse at Sunny Hill Care Center in Tama and the former Bethesda Care Center in Toledo. She was also an EMT1D with the Toledo Ambulance and was a Red Cross Swimming instructor at the pool. Eleanor was recently the Resident Council Secretary at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary, and Toledo American Legion Auxiliary. Eleanor enjoyed bowling, crocheting, Bingo and Club Pogo.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Darwin on April 23, 1968; one sister, Ruby Mae "Jerry" Moore; one brother, Kenneth Dale Young; and one nephew, Larry David Young.
Survivors include her children, Susan (Richard) Ferry of Boone, Michael (Betty) Twiselton-Brown of Cocoa, FL, Patsy (Mark) Sholes of Marshalltown, Dixie (Scott) Newberg of Troutdale, OR, Melody (John) Ryan of Tama, Nancy Twiselton of Marshalltown, and Angela (Mike Carmody) Klinefelter of Tama; sixteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; one brother, Larry Young of Bigfork, MN; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
