Obituary

TAMA-Eleanor L. Zhorne, 93, of Tama, passed away Monday, January 30, 2012 at Jackson Park Christian Home in Nashville, TN under the care of Alive Hospice. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 10:30 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama. Interment will follow at National Cemetery in rural Vining. Visitation will be held Friday, February 3, 2012 from 4-7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Eleanor was born on February 28, 1918, in rural Gilman, Iowa, the daughter of Edgar and Edna (Brewer) Reeves.
On November 27, 1937, she was united in marriage to Leo Zhorne at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Eleanor worked for a veterinarian as an assistant and also a clothing store in Marshalltown. She and her husband had previously owned and operated a gas station and restaurant in Chelsea. She enjoyed dancing, playing cards, and gardening.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Leo in 1989; one son, Richard "Dean" Zhorne; and one brother, Eldon Reeves.
Survivors include one son, Ronald Zhorne of Tama; three grandchildren, Jodi (Raymond) Thomas of Burlington, KS, Janee (Ron) Eisele of Nashville, TN, and Ricky Dean (Brandi) Zhorne of Nashville, TN; eight great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; one sister, Gladys Walton of Marshalltown; and one brother, Roger (Annie) Reeves of Albion.
