Eloise H. "Lois" Boldt Furrow, 91, of Tama, passed away Sunday, January 29, 2017 at the Grinnell Regional Medical Center. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama. Visitation will be held Saturday, February 4, 2017 from 9 AM until the time of service at the funeral home. Interment will be held that afternoon at 2:00 PM at Crystal Cemetery in Rural Garwin.


Eloise was born on October 11, 1925, in Crystal Township, Tama County, Iowa, the daughter of George E. and Lena C. (Brill) Berry.
She graduated from Toledo High School in 1943.
On September 18, 1944, she married Lester Boldt at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Tama. He passed away on February 14, 1996. On May 5, 2001, she married Lorin Furrow at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. He passed away on June 19, 2003. Lois was a farm wife and also worked for the Tama News Herald and Marshalltown Manufacturing. She enjoyed horses, flowers and working in her yard. Lois was a former member of Fairview Methodist Church where she was active in the UMW. She was an organizing member of the Ridge Riders Saddle Club and a Pony Express member raising funds for Camp Sunnyside. She served as an EMT on the Tama and Montour Ambulance services. Lois helped with senior meals in Montour and also helped care for family members.
Survivors include three children, Marlys Smith of Gilman, Roger (Marcella) Boldt of Chelsea, and Randy (Deanna) Boldt of Adel; nine grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Frances Niedermann of Marshalltown; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her two husbands; her siblings, Alice Kroeger, Doris Arp, Gladys Berry, and Samuel Berry; and a son-in-law, Wendell Smith.
A memorial fund has been established.
