Elvis Keahna, age 48, of Toledo, died on Wednesday, March 1, 2006, in Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center due to a sudden illness. Traditional Graveside Services will be held on Friday, March 3, 2006, at 2:00 PM at the Meskwaki Cemetery. A wake will be held this evening at the Fox Clan Ceremonial Building on the Meskwaki Settlement, rural Tama.
Elvis Keahna was born May 1, 1957, in Des Moines, the son of Betty Cowles. He graduated from South Tama High School in 1976. He served his country in the U.S. Army. On August 3, 1976, he was united in marriage to Jill Culbertson, at the Tama Methodist Church. He worked at the Tama Papermill for many years.
Elvis was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Cowles, his grandfather, Mike Keahna, his grandmother, Mabel Keahna, and his uncle Leo Keahna.
Survivors include his wife Jill Keahna of Toledo; his son, Jonathan; his adopted mother, Amelia Lasley; his brothers, Daniel Cowles and Leo Cowles; his sister, Lisa Cowles; and one aunt Vivian (Everett) Kapayou.
