TAMA-Emily Marcella Kvapil, age 93, of Tama, died on Tuesday, December 26, 2006 at Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center following a short illness. A Funeral Liturgy will be held Friday, December 29, 2006 at 10:00 AM at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Tama with Father Michael Mescher officiating. Interment will follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Tama. Visitation will be held on Friday morning from 9 AM until the time of service at the church.
Emily Marcella Kvapil was born on February 26, 1913, in Chelsea, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Frances (Herst) Klima.
On April 11, 1944, she was united in marriage to Edward John Kvapil at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Tama. She baby-sat for many area families. Emily was active at St. Patrick's Catholic Church where she was a member of St. Theresa Circle. She enjoyed quilting to benefit the Juvenile Home. She was known for her human-interest articles for the Cedar Rapids Gazette.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Edward John Kvapil Sr; a twin daughter, Jean Frances; two sisters and two brothers.
Survivors include one son, Edward John (Loretta) Kvapil Jr. of Toledo; four grandchildren, Edward John (Danelle) Kvapil III of Davenport, Michael (Tonya) Kvapil of Austell, GA, Matthew Kvapil of Omaha, NE, and Lynne Kvapil of Cincinnati, OH.
A memorial fund has been established.
