Eris Fae Sturtz Leonard, 85, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Sunday, February 10, 2019 at her home under the care of Hospice of Mercy. A Memorial Graveside Service will be held Saturday, April 27, 2019 at 1:00 PM at Maple Hill Cemetery in Montour.

Eris was born on February 19, 1933, in rural Tama, Iowa, the daughter of Walter and Dorothy (Pulber) Sturtz.

She attended Tama Schools.

In November of 1973, she was married to L.J. Leonard. He passed away in 2015. Eris was an owner of a trucking company until 2012 and was still a current owner of a trucking logistics company that her son Scot is currently running. She liked to go to the Meskwaki and Riverside Casinos. Eris also enjoyed watching LeBron James play basketball as well as other sports.

Survivors include one son, Scot (Shelley) Taylor of Cedar Rapids; step-daughters, Brenda Lukasko of Cedar Rapids, Nancy (Mike) Purk of Toledo, and Sharon Leonard of Cedar Rapids; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; two sisters, Karen Kelly of California, and Yvonne Early of Colorado; one brother, Carl Sturtz of Tama; many nieces and nephews; and other extended family members.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, L.J. Leonard; one step-son, Terry Leonard; six brothers; and two sisters.
