Obituary

CLUTIER-Eugene Charles Dvorak, age 71, of Clutier, died Tuesday, August 25, 2009, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo. A Funeral Liturgy will be held Friday, August 28, 2009 at 10:30 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama with Deacon Joe Behounek officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Trinity Cemetery in rural Toledo. Visitation will be held Thursday, August 27 from 4-8 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Eugene was born on February 24, 1938, on the family farm in rural Clutier, Iowa, the son of Fred E. and Barbara A. (Zmolek) Dvorak.
He graduated from Keystone High School in 1956.
He married Amy Seeland on October 19, 1968 at the Immaculate Conception Church in Cedar Rapids. She passed away April 20, 1995.
Eugene was a farmer most of his life and worked at Benco Manufacturing in Belle Plaine for ten years. He was a fifty-year member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and also a member of the KD Lodge. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and cooking, especially making pickles. Eugene loved his dog, Lucky and watching the Iowa Hawkeyes and St. Louis Cardinals. He spent many years going with his wife Amy to ball games and traveling. He played a very active role in taking care of his sister, Grace and brother, Fred after the passing of their father.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Amy; a sister, Barbara in infancy; and a brother, Frederick.
Survivors include a special friend, Delores Calkins of Clutier, "He was the best man a girl could want"; one brother, David (Peg) Dvorak of Elberon; two sisters, Grace (Kent) Meyer of Cedar Rapids and Ann (Dick) O'Connor of Surprise, AZ; three sisters-in-law, Mary Ann (Arlyn) Gray of Elkader, Florene (Lee) Kopecky of Cedar Rapids and Eileen (Les) Smith of Marion; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
