TAMA- Floreine "Bonnie" Matula, age 81, of Tama, died Tuesday, November 21, 2006 at Sunny Hill Care Center in Tama under the care of Grinnell Regional Hospice due to a lengthy illness. A Funeral Liturgy will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2006 at 10:00 AM at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Tama with Father Michael Mescher, officiating. Interment will follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9-10 AM on Saturday at the church. Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama is in charge of the arrangements.
Floreine was born on June 16, 1925 in Tama, the daughter of Warren and Roxie (Beale) Willson. She was united in marriage to Edward Matula on June 26, 1943. They made their home in the Tama-Toledo area before moving to Marshalltown where Bonnie worked as a medaide for several years. Once retired, they moved back to the Tama-Toledo area. Bonnie and Edward raised several foster children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Edward Matula on September 22, 2005, a sister Violet Brown, three brothers Marion, Kenny, and Bob Willson, and two nephews Larry Miller and Michael Kesl.
Survivors include a daughter Patricia (Jim) Knoll of Ogallala, Nebraska; a son Daniel Matula of Macomb, Illinois; four grandchildren Jami McQuillan, Jodi Therkelsen, Jeffrey Knoll, and Abbey Matula; ten great-grandchildren; three sisters Ruth (Loyal) Benesh of Brooklyn, Janice (Ernie) Buresh, and Sherry (Jim) Kesl of Tama; and sisters-in-law Ellene Willson, Doris Willson, and Priscilla Willson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to Grinnell Regional Hospice.
