Obituary

Francis "Frank" Matthew Hayek, 58, of Toledo, stepped into Heaven on Friday, January 5, 2018 at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at 10:30 AM at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Tama with Pastor Kerry Jech of New Hope Christian Church of Marshalltown officiating. Interment will follow at National Cemetery in rural Vining. Visitation will be held Monday, January 8, 2018 from 4-7 PM at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Tama.

Frank was born on September 16, 1959, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the son of Leonard and Lillian (Posusta) Hayek.

He graduated from North Tama High School in 1978.

On May 8, 1982, he was married to Sonia Reynolds at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Frank was a custom woodworker and a Gelbvieh Cattleman. He was a member of New Hope Christian Church in Marshalltown, and the Gelbvieh Association. Frank loved his cattle, could fix anything, would help anyone and was always passing along his many talents. He enjoyed starting his mornings by reading his Bible and listening to sermons. Spending time with his family was his favorite pass time and he loved to have his beloved sons helping him on the farm.

Survivors include his wife of thirty-five years, Sonia of Toledo; three sons, Daniel (Lauren) Hayek of Clutier, Seth Hayek of New York, NY, and Micah (Amici) Hayek of Nevada, IA; three brothers, Eugene (Florence) Hayek of Phoenix, AZ, Norman (Doreen) Hayek of Kalispell, MT, and Paul (Lisa) Hayek of West Des Moines; six sisters, Carolyn (Marvin) Bohnstengel of Clutier, Monica (Allen) Brezina of Johnston, Mary Kay (Terry) Boldt of Traer, Ramona (Mitch) Zimbeck of Hiawatha, Teresa Masker of Phoenix, AZ, and Connie (John) Mahlstede of Marshalltown; a sister-in-law, Barb (Mitch) Wieben of Dysart; his mother-in-law, Betty Kuhl of Waterloo; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers, Anthony "Tony" Hayek, and infant, Joseph Hayek; and his father-in-law, Bud Reynolds.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to New Hope Christian Church in Marshalltown.
