Franklin was born and raised in Exira, Iowa, to Harry and Rosa (Nelson) Albertsen.
Franklin graduated from Ames High School and received his Bachelor of Science from Iowa State University in Agriculture Education.
In 1979, he married Becky Mattingly. Franklin dedicated his professional life to shaping the minds of young people, serving for many years as a vocational agriculture teacher and FFA advisor in Toledo and Audubon, IA. He was a pillar of the community, committed to fostering the next generation of agricultural leaders. Beyond the classroom, Franklin’s true passion lay in the purebred seedstock cattle, poultry and swine industries. His work in these fields was not merely a career, but a lifelong commitment to excellence and the advancement of livestock standards.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Becky Albertsen; his children, Dacken (Sonja), Danzel (Gabby), Dawsen (Brandi Steck) Albertsen, Brooke (Brent) Beelner, and Daweyn (Elizabeth) Albertsen; and his sisters, Betty Price and Dorothy Mae (Bill) Hawks. He was a proud grandfather to Jade Cichy, Storm Cichy, Braydon Beelner, Emee Dani, Brennen Beelner, Reyn Dani, Brantly Beelner, Korol Dani, Prynn Dani, Didion Albertsen, Broghan Beelner, Isben Albertsen, Waylon Albertsen, and Weston Albertsen.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his sister, Harriet (Les) Spanel; his younger brother; and brother-in-law, LeRoy Price. Franklin will be remembered for his steadfast work ethic, his expertise in the livestock industry, and the profound impact he had on his fellow herdsmen, students and family.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established.
