Fred Albert Dolash, 85, passed away Friday, August 1, 2014 at Sunny Hill Care Center in Tama. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at 10:30 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Pastor Brian Oliver officiating. Private Interment will be at the National Cemetery in rural Vining at a later date. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 4, 2014 from 6-8 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home.
Fred was born on May 12, 1929, in Chelsea, Iowa, the son of Albert and Ella Sophia (Zeman) Dolash.
Fred served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
On January 15, 1958, he was united in marriage to Mary Ann Nekola.
He retired from Farmstead Meat Packing plant in Cedar Rapids and also farmed. Fred was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Tama and the Tama American Legion. He enjoyed fishing and hunting for mushrooms.
Survivors include two sons, Doug (Traci) Dolash of Chelsea and Dale Dolash of Chelsea; two grandchildren, Ashley (Curtis) Raue of Toledo and Dustin Dolash of Chelsea; one great-grandson, Karsen Raue; one brother, Don (Sarah) Dolash of Tama; one sister, Karen Nekola of Tama; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Mary Ann; his siblings, Arthur Dolash, June Nekola, Rosalie Petermeier and George Dolash.
A memorial fund has been established.
