Obituary

Gaylord R. Morgan, 45, of Toledo, passed away Sunday, February 12, 2017 at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics. A Traditional Wake will be held Monday evening, February 13, 2017 at the Fox Clan Ceremonial Building on the Meskwaki Settlement in rural Tama. Traditional Graveside Services will be held Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Morgan Cemetery on the Meskwaki Settlement in rural Tama with Michael Keahna as speaker.

Gaylord was born on May 14, 1971, in Santa Fe, New Mexico, the son of Gailey R. and Maria C. (Pino) Morgan Jr.
He graduated from Kearny High School in San Diego, CA.
Gaylord spent most of his life in San Diego, CA before returning to the settlement in 2016. He was known for his love of music and sports teams, mainly the San Diego Padres, San Diego Chargers and Iowa Hawkeyes. Gaylord also loved hanging with friends and singing Karaoke. He enjoyed spending time with the many friends and family in San Diego, CA, Tesuque Pueblo, NM and the Meskwaki Settlement, IA. He will be greatly missed by all!
Preceding him in death were his paternal and maternal grandparents; and his parents.
Survivors include two brothers, Gary Morgan of Tama, and Gailey Morgan III of Tesuque Pueblo, NM; one sister, Gerilyn Morgan of Tama; his sister-in-law, Rachel Morgan of Tesuque Pueblo, NM; his nieces, Ganine R. and Gailene Morgan of Tesuque Pueblo, NM; nephew, Gailey R. Morgan IV of Tesuque Pueblo, NM; adopted father, Luke Kapayou of Tama; and many aunts, uncles and cousins in Iowa and New Mexico. Gaylord also leaves behind many friends who consider him family in San Diego, CA.
