Gene Zhorne, 82, of Longview, Texas, passed away Saturday, October 5, 2019 in Longview, Texas. Graveside Services will be held on Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at 10:30 AM at National Cemetery in rural Vining. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 9 from 9 - 10 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.

Gene was born on March 19, 1937 in Tama, Iowa to Leonard Zhorne and Helen Duhachek Zhorne. He attended the University of Iowa and Boise State on football scholarships. Gene married Connie Nachazel of Toledo, Iowa on September 1, 1958. He loved gardening and hunting. Gene was a minister who loved Bible study and valued conviction and integrity. His happiest moments were spending time with his family.

Mr. Zhorne was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers; Stan and Pete Zhorne, and two grandchildren; Amelia and Jeremy Zhorne.

Gene is survived by his wife Connie of Longview, Texas; three sons, Jeff Zhorne of California, Scott and wife Rachel of Longview, Texas, and Matt and wife Csilla Zhorne of Melbourne, Florida; and five grandchildren, Sophia, Chloe, and Zachary Zhorne all of California, and Zaden and Zoey Zhorne both of Longview, Texas.
