TOLEDO- Geneva Faith Kucera, age 90, a resident of Sunny Hill Care Center in Tama and formerly of Toledo, died Sunday, December 31, 2006 at the care center following a lengthy illness.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2007 at 10:30 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Marshalltown with Bishop Jim Roberts, officiating. Interment will follow at Haven Cemetery in rural Tama. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 3 from 5 to 7 PM at the Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Geneva was born on January 16, 1916 in Tama, the daughter of Colonel and Elizabeth (Hand) Villers. She married Joseph Kucera on November 6, 1937 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was active in the Garden Club, Kitchen Band, Tama County Genealogical Society, and volunteered at Congregate Meals. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, serving an eighteen month mission in the Idaho-Boise area, as well as working in various other callings in her church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, and a brother.
Survivors include three daughters, Mary (Devirl) Stewart of Bountiful, Utah, Virginia (Jim) Roberts of Tama, and Alice (Jody) Millward of Mesa, Arizona; seventeen grandchildren; thirty-three great-grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; and a sister Ruth Bennett of Marshalltown.
