TAMA-Georgia Ann Pushetonequa, 81, of Tama, passed away Friday, November 25, 2011 at her home under care of Iowa River Hospice. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at 10:30 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Tama. A Memorial Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 29, 2011 from 4-7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Georgia was born on September 27, 1930, in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of Wilbur and Eula (Black) Wulf.
She graduated from high school in Davenport. She then attended Iowa State Teacher's College in Cedar Falls, eventually graduating from UNI. Most recently, Georgia was a social studies teacher at South Tama Middle School and prior to that a teacher in Davenport, Waterloo and the Meskwaki Settlement School.
She married Frank Pushetonequa on January 10, 1966, in Peoria, Illinois.
Georgia was a member of the Iowa Polio Survivors, Inc. She participated in water aerobics at the YMCA in Marshalltown for many years. Georgia enjoyed her pets, but her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family.
Preceding her in death were her parents; one daughter, Kara Watson; and one great-grandson, Elliott Hodge.
Survivors include her husband, Frank of Tama; her children, Jane DeVault of Toledo, and David (Diane) Wulf of Onalaska, WI; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several close cousins and other relatives.
A memorial fund has been established.
