TAMA-Gertrude Mae Miles, age 92, of Tama, passed away September 15, 2010, at the Grinnell Regional Medical Center. A Funeral Service will be held Monday, September 20, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo. Visitation will be held Monday, September 20, 2010 from 9 – 11 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home.
Gertrude was born on December 25, 1917, in Paragould, AR, the daughter of Harry and Bertha E. (Mull) Coye.
She attended Toledo High School.
She married Lumir J. Yanda on April 4, 1936 in Toledo, Iowa. He passed away in 1951. She married George E. Miles in 1962 in Bethany, MO. Gertrude was a homemaker. She formerly worked at Scudder's Maid Rite in Toledo. She also worked at the bowling alley and cleaned homes. Gertrude liked cooking, fishing and knitting afghans. She also enjoyed watching birds, especially hummingbirds.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husbands, Lumir Yanda and George Miles; one sister, Hazel Scott; one brother, Kenneth Coye; and two half brothers, Lee and Ray Alston.
Survivors include two sons, Jerry (Kathy) Yanda of Toledo and Larry (Sonia) Yanda of Powersville, MO; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
A memorial fund has been established.
