Obituary

TAMA- Gertrude Alyce Timm, 93, of Tama, passed away Sunday, July 22, 2012 at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown. Funeral Services will be held Friday, July 27, 2012 at 10:30 AM at St. John Lutheran Church in rural Tama with Pastor Kalen Barkholtz officiating. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in rural Tama. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 26, 2012 from 5 – 8 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Gertrude was born on September 2, 1918, in rural Poweshiek County, the daughter of Glenn and Mary Elizabeth (Boyer) Clark.
She graduated from Toledo High School and attended college at State Teachers College in Cedar Falls.
On October 5, 1939, she was united in marriage to Alfred Timm in rural Tama. She helped him on the farm. Gertrude was employed at the Montgomery catalog store in Tama for ten years and was a bookkeeper for twenty-five years at the Tama Livestock Auction. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in rural Tama where she was involved in circles and Ladies Aid. She was also a member of Farm Bureau, Eagles Auxiliary and she volunteered at the Clothes Closet. Gertrude was an excellent baker and enjoyed gardening.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Alfred in 1988; two daughters, Judith Ann Timm and Mary Kaloupek; three great-grandchildren, Luke and Ella Timm, and Christian Alan; one sister, Hazel Rockwood; and two brothers, Bernard and Gary Clark.
Survivors include three sons, David (Joleen) Timm of Tama, Alan (Beverly) Timm of Tama, and Chris Timm of Colo; two daughters, Janice (Randy) Huff of Tama, and Kathleen (Ed) Ohrt of Gladbrook; nineteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren; one sister, Mildred Devin of CA; one brother, Calvin Clark of Ashton, IL; and many nieces and nephews.
