DES MOINES-Gladys Elizabeth Goose, age 92, of Des Moines, passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2013, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Traditional Graveside Services will be held on Monday, November 4, 2013, at 2:00 PM at Morgan Cemetery on the Meskwaki Settlement, rural Tama with Homer Bear Jr. as speaker. A Traditional Wake will be held Sunday evening at the Fox Clan Ceremonial Building on the Meskwaki Settlement, rural Tama. Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home, Tama-Toledo is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Gladys was born on April 7, 1921 in Tama. She was raised by her mother and step-father, Lucille Old Bear Kapayou and Loman Kapayou. She attended Flandreau Indian School in South Dakota. Gladys was married to Samuel Goose. She worked as a housekeeper at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Gladys loved her family and many relatives. She also loved animals and had many pets. Gladys enjoyed traveling as well.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Samuel Goose; and brothers, Everett, Edward, and Eugene Kapayou.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Goose and Doreen Goose both of Des Moines; son, Luke Kapayou of Tama; grandson, Lucas Small Legs Goose of Des Moines; granddaughter, Gabriella Elizabeth Goose of Des Moines; sister, Agnes Kapayou of Tama; sisters-in-law, Sylvia Kapayou, Vivian Kapayou, and Joyce Kapayou all of Tama; and many nieces and nephews and their families.
