TOLEDO-Glen A. Timm, age 86, of Toledo, died on March 25, 2006, in Iowa Veteran's Home in Marshalltown due to lengthy illness. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, March 29, 2006, at 1:30 PM at St. John's Lutheran Church in rural Tama with Pastor Herb Knudten officiating. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in rural Tama. A Memorial Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 28, 2006 from 5-8 PM at the Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Glen A. Timm was born on June 11, 1919, south of Tama on the homeplace. He was the son of Fred and Marie Rehberg Timm. He graduated from Tama High School in 1937. After graduation, he rented a farm. In March of 1942, he was inducted into the Army Air Force during World War II and in December of 1943, he received a medical discharge. On April 7, 1945, he was united in marriage to Esther Schmutte at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Glen farmed near Garwin for fifteen years and in 1960 moved to the home farm south of Tama. They retired in 1989 after fifty-two years of farming, and moved to 209 N.E. St. in Toledo. Since 1948, Glen was an active member of Farm Bureau. He was also a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church in rural Tama and the Tama American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Art Timm and Wayne Timm.
Survivors include his wife Esther Timm of Toledo; two sons, Darold (Ellen) Timm of Mingo and Gerald (Kathy) Timm of Tama; one daughter, Sandra Chandonia of Spring, TX; thirteen grandchildren, Bradley, Jennifer, Jeffrey, Jared, David, Michael, Stacy, Tiffany, Rodney, Lindsey, Jeremy, Amie, and Justin; fifteen great-grandchildren, Kassianne, Trinity, Connie, Conner, Angelica, Owen, Isabella, Jessica, Jacob, Clay, Carlee, Conway, Chloe, Abigail and Ashley.
A memorial fund has been established.
