Obituary

H. Jean Hanus, 80, of Toledo, passed away Thursday, August 24, 2017 at her home. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Pastor Warren Riley officiating. Interment will follow at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo. Visitation will be held Monday, August 28, 2017 from 5-7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home.

Jean was born on November 4, 1936, in Greentop, MO, the daughter of Elmer Lee and Ona (McElhinney) Riley.

She graduated from Greentop High School in Missouri.

On December 1, 1957, she was united in marriage to James Richard Hanus at the Tama Methodist Church. Jean was a farmwife for most of her life and a Medical Aid at the County Home in Toledo. Jean enjoyed crocheting, embroidering, word find puzzles, and scratch off lottery tickets.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, James on July 22, 2011; and six brothers.

Survivors include four children, Valerie (Gary) Menter of Toledo, Melody (Kendall) Adelmund of Wellsburg, Allen Hanus (Joan Miller) of Chicago, IL, and Peggy LaSalle (Mike Glunt) of Pierceton, IN; nine grandchildren, Matt and Nik Scheid, Tiffany Lentz, Justin Prusha, Megan Love, Cody and Jim Hanus, Jamie and Heath Krough; seventeen great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Wanda Riley and Marilyn Fontinel; one step-sister-in-law, Sarah Mattingly; and two fur babies, Riley and Jackie.
