Harlan "Mike" Forkner Jr., 68, of Marshalltown, passed away Saturday, April 23, 2016 at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 10:30 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Mike was born on June 21, 1947, in Creston, Iowa, the son of Harlan Michael and Mary (Rundberg) Forkner Sr.
On December 19, 1987, he was united in marriage to Debbie Spencer in Marshalltown, Iowa. Mike worked at Lennox for fifteen years and prior to that he fixed copying machines for Koch Brothers. He liked to tinker with electronics and spend time with his family. Harlan was known to be a practical joker.
Survivors include his children, Mitch (Heather) Forkner of Ames, Tracey Ohnesorge (John Harvey) of St. Anthony, Tina (Bill) McVey of Indianola, Sureyya (Ali) Raza of Des Moines, Chris Ohnesorge of Indianola and Janet (Russ) Fisher of Marshalltown; twenty three grandchildren; four great-grandsons; his mother, Mary Hunter of Des Moines; three siblings, Rick (Lori) Forkner, Dave (Suzy) Forkner, and Deanne Frederickson all of Des Moines; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harlan Forkner Sr.; his wife, Debbie on July 23, 2009; and one brother, Huck Forkner.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
