TAMA-Harold E. Reinier, age 87, of Tama, died on Wednesday, August 6, 2008, in Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids following a lengthy illness. A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, August 9, 2008 at 11:00 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama with Father Michael Mescher officiating. Interment will be held at a future date. Visitation will be held Saturday, August 9, 2008 from 10:00-11:00 AM at the church prior to the service.
Harold E. Reinier was born on August 1, 1921, in Farson, Iowa, the son of Noah Samuel and Lola Myrtle (Black) Reinier.
He graduated from Agency High School and attended Business College in Omaha, NE.
Harold served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII.
On November 4, 1942, he was united in marriage to Frieda Reil at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Bayard, Iowa.
He was retired from the Milwaukee Railroad where he served as a depot agent for many years. Harold was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama and was a past Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Toledo American Legion and the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Tama. He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeye Fan.
Preceding him in death were his parents; a son, David in 2001; a daughter, Mary in infancy in 1956; and one brother, Howard Reinier.
Survivors include his wife Frieda of Tama; one daughter, Rebecca (Charles) Fuhrman of Adel; three grandchildren, Clint Reinier, Kirk Reinier and Katie Van Alstein; nine great-grandchildren, Jacob, Clayton, Kirsten, Emily, Jacob, Levi, Christian, Tim, and Tanner; four brothers, Kenneth (Frances) Reinier of Kansas City, MO, Stanley Reinier of Martinsburg, Leslie (Jean) Reinier of Greeley, KS, and Wayne (Arlie Jean) Reinier of Valparaiso, FL; four sisters, Edna Culley of Kansas City, MO, Elsie Vinson of Newton, Rose Mary (Jack) Moyer of Cedar Rapids, and Edith Heemsbergen of Agency; one brother-in-law, Bob (JoAnn) Reil of Guthrie Center; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be directed to St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Tama or the American Heart Association.
