Obituary

Harry Lee Braye, 78, of Tama, passed away Thursday, August 29, 2019, at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, September 7, 2019 from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM at the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Tama. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo.

Harry was born on December 26, 1940, in Tama County, Iowa the son of Edward and Maymie (Haramza) Braye. As a young man, he began driving truck for Jack Spooner in Tama. Harry later moved to California and continued his driving career as an owner/operator for many years. He moved back to Iowa in the 1970's. Harry eventually switched from working as an over the road driver to hauling grain locally. He retired in the late 1990's. Harry loved going fishing in Canada. He also attended the Indianapolis 500 annually for many years. Harry enjoyed going on drives, especially in the western United States. He also enjoyed drives through the Iowa countryside.

Survivors include his sister, Edna Neville of Toledo and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; brother and sister-in-law, Don and Vineta Braye; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Carl Wheeler and Geraldine and Lloyd Kroeger; brother-in-law, William Neville; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial fund will be established.

Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home, Tama-Toledo is assisting the family with arrangements.
