Helen Florence Berrey, 89, of Tama, passed away Thursday, March 9, 2017 at Premier Estates of Toledo. A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama. Private Inurnment will be held at a future date. Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 14, 2017 from 9:30 AM until the time of service at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.

Helen was born on September 26, 1927, in Sacramento, CA, the daughter of Esais and Florence (Lausten) Epling.
She graduated from Lowell High School in San Francisco, CA and in 1973 from Graceland College in Lamoni, IA.
On July 17, 1973, she was united in marriage to Glenn Edwin Berrey in Reno, NV.
Helen was an accomplished musician mainly the piano, organ, cello, violin, and guitar. She taught music both private lessons and public school. She also played for community events, churches, funerals, weddings, directing choir for Farm Bureau Women's Chorus, and dance recitals to name a few. Helen was a music director and an Elder and Pastor for the Community of Christ Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed Scrabble, puzzles, animals, and playing cards.
Survivors include her husband, Glenn of Tama; one daughter, Charlotte (Eugene) Zeman of Cedar Rapids; one son, Robert (Linda) Gray of San Antonio, TX; a step-daughter, Linda A. Ryff of Salida, CO; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; two brothers, Edward Charles, and William Bruce Epling; and one sister, Audrey Jean Epling.
