Helen Mae Hala, 92, of Tama and formerly of Garwin, passed away Sunday, April 24, 2022, at Sunny Hill Care Center in Tama. A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama. A Luncheon will follow at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama with Interment to be held at 1:30 PM at Holy Trinity Cemetery in rural Clutier.

Helen was born on November 6, 1929, in Dodge Center, MN, the daughter of John and Mary (Finch) Wirth.

She graduated from Garwin High School in 1947.

On July 12, 1958, she was united in marriage to William E. Hala at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Helen was a receptionist at Peerless Cleaners in Marshalltown as well as a farm wife and homemaker. She liked gardening and reading. She and William wintered in Las Vegas for many years.

Survivors include many nieces and nephews and their families.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, William; two brothers, Walter and George Wirth; two sisters, Harriett Fleming and Ruth Ingraham.

A memorial fund will be established.
