TAMA-Helen Margaret Ledvina, age 81, of Tama, died Sunday, September 7, 2008 at Sunny Hill Care Center in Tama following a short illness. A funeral liturgy will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2008 at 10:30 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama with Deacon Joe Behounek officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Trinity Cemetery in rural Toledo. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 10 from 4 to 7:30 PM with a vigil service at 7:30 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Helen was born on November 28, 1926 in Clutier, the daughter of Joseph Fred and Frances Rose (Ludvicek) Buresh. She attended Carroll School #5. Helen was united in marriage to Harry Louis Ledvina on June 2, 1951 and they later divorced. She was a homemaker and also worked at Molly's Kitchen and King Tower. Besides enjoying spending time with her grandchildren, she also provided baby-sitting for others. She enjoyed her life on the farm. Helen was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama and CCW. In her spare time, she enjoyed baking, gardening, playing bingo, and fishing with her kids.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Joe Buresh and one brother in infancy; one sister, Millie Pavlicek; and two nieces, Arlene Vander Leest and Phyllis McClenathan.
Survivors include seven children, Robert G. (Candy Mennenga) Ledvina of Toledo, Thomas H. (Loretta) Ledvina of Elberon, Barbara H. (Daryl) Bazal of Vining, Patricia A. (Michael) Maas of Tucson, AZ, Judy M. Junge of Keystone, Steven J. (Elizabeth) Ledvina of Toledo, Helen J. (Mike) Ogbourne of West Des Moines; twenty-one grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two step grandchildren; five step great-grandchildren; one sister, Margaret Breja of Toledo; one brother, Edward Buresh of Traer; and many nieces and nephews.
