Helen Mae Pritchett, 95, of Tama, passed away Sunday, December 28, 2014 at Sunny Hill Care Center in Tama. Traditional Graveside Services will be held Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at 2:00 PM at the Meskwaki Cemetery on the Meskwaki Settlement with Larry Lasley Sr. as Speaker. A Traditional Wake will be held Monday evening, December 29, 2014 at Eagle Clan Ceremonial Building on the Meskwaki Settlement.
Helen was born November 19, 1919 on the Meskwaki Settlement in Tama, Iowa, the daughter of Harry and Josephine (Morgan) Waseskuk.
On June 19, 1948, she was united in marriage to Walter Pritchett in Waterloo, Iowa. They continued to live in Waterloo where she worked for the Rath Packing Company. Helen enjoyed Pow Wows and attending Tribal functions.
Survivors include her children, Dean (Hattie) Whitebreast of Montour and Babette Pritchett of Waterloo; Two sisters, Lois (Curtis) Davenport of Tama and Shirley White of Lakeville, MN; her grandchildren, Damon Whitebreast of Montour, Deanna Westphal of Ocala, FL, Denise Ahrens of Spring Valley, MN, Dena Whitebreast, Ira Whitebreast, Danette Whitebreast and Arlan Whitebreast all of Tama, and Keith (Amanda) Pritchett of Waterloo; seventeen great grandchildren; one adopted brother, Charlie Oldbear; three adopted sisters, Myrtle Keahna, Agnes Kapayou and Marie Davenport; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband Walter Pritchett; three brothers Robert Waseskuk, Ben Waseskuk and Billy Waseskuk; four sisters, Bertha Waseskuk, Dorothy Bear, Belle Morgan and Eleanor Pushetonequa; and a great-granddaughter, Darcy Keahna.
