TAMA-Henryk Jan Zurkowski, age 80, of Tama died Friday, September 3, 2010 at his home. There will be no services. Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home, Tama-Toledo is handling the arrangements.
Henryk was born on April 12, 1930 in Tarnow, Poland the son of Jacob and Julia (Starzycka) Zurkowski. He received his education at the Brodzinskiego Public School. Henryk was department manager of ZMD Tarnow until immigrating to the USA in 1971. He then worked in the meat packing industry for twenty years. Heryk was united in marriage to Mary Vore on June 1, 1974 at the Gospel Center in Tama. In later years he was the custodian at the Toledo Post Office and the State Bank of Toledo. Henryk attended the Tama Assembly of God Church. He was a major fan of the NHL. Henryk also enjoyed sports and news programs on TV. He especially liked to play the Iowa Lottery scratch ticket games.
Preceding him in death were his parents; first wife Helena (Sroka) Zurkowska; one sister Janina Zurkowski; and three brothers, Edward, Frederik, and Antoni Zurkowski.
Survivors include his wife Mary Zurkowski of Tama; son, Jacek (Alicja)Zurkowski of Addison, IL; step-children, Dawn Lough of Toledo, Lori (Keith) Fairbanks of Toledo, Rone`e (Jeff) Slagle of Tama, and Robert (Mindy) Vore of Toledo; ten grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and one brother, Marian Zurkowski of Tarnow, Poland.
