Hilma Marie Alexander, 101, of Toledo, passed away Saturday, December 27, 2014 at Premier Estates of Toledo. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 10:30 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Rev. LaVern Seth officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Tama. Visitation will be held on Friday January 2, 2015 from 5 - 7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.

Hilma was born on March 18, 1913 in Sacred Heart, MN, the daughter of Ernest and Mary (Villers) Klenk. She moved to Toledo at five years of age where she attended rural school. Upon graduation from the 8th grade, she worked at several jobs until her marriage. On July 3, 1935, she was united in marriage to Darrell Alexander in Marshalltown, Iowa. They lived in the Tama-Toledo area most of their married life and moved to Premier Estates of Toledo in 1997. Upon Darrell's passing in 1998, Hilma took on another job at the age of 84, wrapping silverware three times each day until retiring at the age of 100. She enjoyed her volunteer job saying she could see all the goings on and keep up with all the latest news from her position in the dining room. Hilma always had a good sense of humor and was liked and loved by all who knew her.

Survivors include four sons, Keith (Arlene) Alexander of Des Moines, Wayne (Dorthy) Alexander of Toledo, Larry (Pat) Alexander of Denison and Allan (Becky) Alexander of Toledo; ten grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and ten great-great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband of sixty-three years Darrell on February 2, 1998; one brother, Lloyd (Marion) Klenk; three sisters, Edith (Lowell) Adkins, Esther (Hugo) Drews and Alice (Dick) Delfs; two grandchildren, Craig Alexander and Angela Alexander; one great-granddaughter, Shelby Schmidt; and two great-great granddaughters, Tonni Lynn and Terri Jean Alexander.

A memorial fund has been established.
