December 11, 1940 – April 17, 2022
Howard Louis Manos Jr., 81, of Toledo, passed away Sunday, April 17, 2022 at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, April 21, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the Tama Meskwaki Celebration Assembly of God Church, 900 E. 5th St., Tama with Pastor Kenny Mervin officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo. Visitation will be held Thursday, April 21, 2022 prior to the service from 9-11 AM at Tama Meskwaki Celebration Assembly of God Church.
Howard was born on December 11, 1940, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Howard Louis and Betty (Sellers) Manos Sr.
He graduated from Shellsburg High School.
In 1958, he married Lynda Narber who was his wife for over forty years. Together, they raised three children.
For over twenty-five years, he was a plant engineer for Wilson Foods in Cedar Rapids, Monmouth, IL, and Marshall, MO. Later in life, he worked with his father in the drapery business. Howard was a member of Tama Meskwaki Celebration Assembly of God Church, where he was actively involved in the Food Pantry and cooking at church functions. He enjoyed fishing and in his earlier years, hunting, bowling and golfing. Howard was a volunteer helping with the Lincoln Highway Bridge landscaping in Tama for many years and helped put out flags at the cemeteries for Memorial Day. He was formerly a volunteer fireman in Shellsburg.
Survivors include his children, Michael (Margaret) Manos of Colorado Springs, CO, and Laurie (Charles) Wilken of Lake Hiawatha, NJ; four grandchildren, Shaun, Lyndsey, Raymond and Zachary; six great-grandchildren, Tayveon, Rylee, Karma, Sakhia, Tatum and Mac; one great-great grandson, Jaylin; and his close friend, Lynda Manos of White Bear Lake, MN.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Howard Manos Sr. and Betty Sellers Wagner; one daughter, Cheryl Kidd; one brother, Thomas Edward Manos; and half-brother, Steve Babka.
Memorials may be directed to Tama Meskwaki Celebration Assembly of God Church in Tama or the Lincoln Highway Bridge Park.
