Ian Liel Halverson, 25, of Tama, passed away Saturday, January 7, 2017 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Tama. Visitation will be held Sunday, January 8, 2017 from 12-3 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with a Funeral Service to follow at 3:00 PM. A Traditional Meskwaki Wake will be held Sunday, January 8, 2017 at the Frank Wanatee residence, 260 West Village Road, Montour, Iowa. Graveside Services will be held Monday, January 9, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo.
Ian was born on July 22, 1991, in Marshalltown, Iowa the son of Steve and Andrianne (Gomez) Halverson. He attended GMG schools. On June 18, 2014, he was united in marriage to Rebecca Halbig in Tama, Iowa. Ian worked at Iowa Premium Beef in Tama. His hobbies included fishing and hunting. From a young age he was a snapping turtle hunter. He was also a mechanic and gamer. Ian especially loved being with his son and also enjoyed family get-togethers.
Survivors include his wife Rebecca of Tama; son, Caiden James Halverson at home; parents, Steve and Andrianne Halverson of Marshalltown; parents-in-law, Teri (Dan) Polka of Tama and Jim (Laurie) Halbig of Toledo; three brothers, Nicolas (Angelica) Buffalo of Tama, Simon (Dawn) Buffalo of Marshalltown, and Beau (Lucille) Lasley of Tama; three sisters, Michelle Hoing of Tama, Amanda (Kevin) Harken of Toledo, and Chanelle Halverson of Marshalltown; grandparents, Shirley Halverson and Isaac and Elizabeth Roberts all of Tama; brother-in-law, Mathew Polka of Tama; three sisters-in-law, Jamie Halbig of Toledo, Christine Hicks of Des Moines, and Tracey O'Brien of Arizona; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Preceding him in death was his sister, Anna Jo Halverson, paternal grandfather, Derold Halverson; uncles Troy and John Roberts; and aunts, Marva, Norma, and Keshena Roberts.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
