Ira D. Wanatee, Ba Si Da Swe, Me De We Su, 41, of Montour passed away Monday, February 16, 2015 at Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center. Traditional Graveside Services will be held Thursday, February 19, 2015 at 2:00 PM at MacIntosh Cemetery on the Meskwaki Settlement in rural Tama with Alex Walker Jr. as speaker. A Traditional Wake will be held Wednesday evening at the Frank and Miriam Wanatee residence, 260 West Village Road, Montour, Iowa.
Ira was born on December 12, 1973, in Marshalltown, Iowa the son of Frank and Miriam (Mitchell) Wanatee. He received his education at the Meskwaki Settlement School and also attended schools in Illinois and Albuquerque, New Mexico. Ira had worked in the construction trade. He enjoyed traveling, making friends, and especially loved his nephew and nieces. Ira was always a happy person.
Survivors include his parents Frank and Miriam Wanatee of Montour; three brothers, Demetreus (Karena Johnson) Wanatee of Montour, Dylan T. (Melanie) Wanatee of Montour, and Donovan Ward of Cedar Rapids; two nieces, Nizhoni and Minnie Wanatee; and a nephew, Mickey Elias Wanatee
Preceding him in death were his grandparents, and a brother, Micki Wanatee.
