Ivan Francis Stansbery, 90, of Traer, passed away Monday, October 24, 2016 at the Sunrise Hill Care and Rehab Center in Traer. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, October 27, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Traer United Methodist Church with Pastor Martha Bennett officiating. Interment will follow at West Union Cemetery in Traer. Visitation will be held Thursday, October 27, 2016 from 9:30 AM until service time at the Traer United Methodist Church.
Ivan was born on September 2, 1926, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Ira and Thelma (Beckman) Stansbery.
He graduated from Geneseo High School.
On December 2, 1945, he was united in marriage to Mary Jean Bandfield at the First Baptist Church in Waterloo, Iowa. Ivan owned and operated Coast to Coast Hardware Store in Traer and also was involved in farming, construction, and drove school bus for North Tama, Geneseo, and Hudson Schools. He was a member of the Traer United Methodist Church in Traer and the Masonic Lodge. Ivan loved carpentry and building things.
Survivors include his wife of seventy years, Mary of Traer; one daughter, Judy (Steven) Sundberg of Anchorage, AK; three sons, Eugene (Fran) Stansbery of Perrysburg, OH, Don (Carol) Stansbery of Traer, and Anthony Stansbery of Emmons, MN; a son-in-law, Larry Kueck of Fort Atkinson, WI; a daughter-in-law, Pam Stansbery of Dike; eleven grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; and one sister, Grace Elliott of Waterloo.
Preceding him in death were his parents; a daughter, Rebecca Kueck; and a son, Mark Stansbery.
A memorial fund has been established.
