Obituary

TAMA- James L. Dumbauld, 86, of Tama, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2011 at Vibra Hospital in Crown Point, IN. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, March 23 at 10:00 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama with Father Michael Mescher as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery in rural Clutier. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 22, 2011 from 4-7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama where there will be a vigil service at 7 PM.
James was born on March 15, 1925, in Toledo, Iowa, the son of Paul and Agnes (Clarke) Dumbauld.
He graduated from Tama High School in 1943 and entered the U.S. Army on June 23, 1943. He served eighteen months in the European Theater World War II and was discharged March 28, 1946.
On September 2, 1947, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Dostal at the Immaculate Conception Church in Clutier. James was employed by the Northwestern Railroad for fifteen years. He then worked for Tama Meat Packing Corporation in sales and accounting retiring in 1987. He served as Scoutmaster for Troup 303 for many years. He was also a member of the Hawkeye Valley Board and involved in delivering Meals on Wheels. James received the Governor's Volunteer Award from Terry E. Branstad on April 16, 1993. In his spare time, he enjoyed refinishing furniture, woodcrafts, gardening, fishing, traveling and was an avid sports fan.
Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother, Paul Jr.; and three sisters, Mary Ann Olive, Jane Dumbauld and Peggy Cibula.
He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-three years, Dorothy; five children, Steven (Vicki) Dumbauld of Bettendorf, Timothy Dumbauld of Smyra, GA, Terrence (Beth) Dumbauld of Matteson, IL, Michael (Ann) Dumbauld of Hobart, IN and Ann (James) Lauer of Morton, IL; thirteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Pauline Randall of Springville.
