Obituary

TOLEDO- James Richard Hanus, 74, of Toledo, passed away Friday, July 22, 2011, at the Windsor Nursing & Rehab Center in Cedar Falls. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo. Visitation will be held Monday, July 25, 2011 from 5-8 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
James was born July 3, 1937, in Toledo, Iowa, the son of James A. and Geraldine (Arment) Hanus.
On December 1, 1957, he was united in marriage to Jean Riley at the Tama Methodist Church. James worked construction for Martin Marietta and retired after thirty-six years. He then purchased his own truck and drove for Trailer Transit out of Indiana. He most recently drove for Marty Hoskey until his health began to fail in 2005. James was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Tama. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.
Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother, Alfred Hanus; and a brother-in-law, Harold Fontinel.
Survivors include his wife, Jean of Toledo; four children, Valerie (Gary) Menter of Conrad, Melody (Kendall) Adelmund of Wellsburg, Allen Hanus of Toledo and Peggy (Lee) LaSalle of Tulsa, OK; nine grandchildren, Matt, Nik and Tiffany Scheid, Justin Prusha, Megan Love, Cody and Jim Hanus, Jamie and Heath Krough; six great-grandchildren, Logan, Rilea, Tucker, Faithlyn, Blake and Jordan; one sister, Marilyn Fontinel of Tama; and step-brother, Sam Mattingly of Toledo.
