TOLEDO- James W. Ryan, age 79, of Toledo, died Monday, July 2, 2007 at
Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center following a sudden illness.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday July 6, 2007 at 10:30 A.M. at the
Christ United Methodist Church Worship Center in Toledo with Pastor Mary
Schnepf officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 5 from 5-7 PM at the
Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Jim was born on March 6, 1928 in rural Poweshiek County, the son of Milo A.
and Helen Winslow Ryan. He graduated from Belle Plaine High School in 1945.
On April 26, 1954, he was united in marriage to Lillian Klenk at St. Paul's
Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids. Jim was a life-long farmer on the family
farm, and greatly enjoyed his work. He also deeply loved spending time with
his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Ruth Wilcox, and a
son-in-law, Rick Nelson.
Survivors include his wife, Lillian; three children, Jean Nelson of Oelwein,
Julie Ryan of West Des Moines, and Don (Michelle) Ryan of Chelsea; four
grandchildren Mindy Nelson, Michael Nelson, Kelly Ryan, and Kristy Ryan; and
a sister, Myrtis Upah of Middle Amana.
A memorial fund has been established.
