TOLEDO-James Koth Sr., 62, of Toledo, passed away Saturday, June 14, 2014 at his home under the care of Iowa River Hospice. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, June 20, 2014 at 1:30 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Pastor Phil Borleske officiating. A Memorial Visitation will be held from 12:30 until the time of service Friday at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama. Private interment will be held at a future date

James was born on September 11, 1951, in Aberdeen, SD the son of Albert "Flip" and Lois (Wells) Koth.
On August 2, 2003, he was united in marriage to Barbara Thompson in Las Vegas, NV. James worked as manager of North Star Beverage of Iowa. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, and shooting. James also enjoyed cars, especially Fords. He had served as Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 56 for several years and was a Deacon at the Lutheran Church he previously attended in South Bend, IN.
Survivors include his wife Barbara of Toledo; five children, Chris (Nicole) Meyer of Newton, Shayla (Kevin) Thomas of Tama, Christine (Chris) Popielarczyk of South Beloit, IL, James (Stephanie) Koth Jr. of Winchester, CA, and Rebecca Koth of Toledo; six grandchildren, Jaxson, Brooke, Maximus, Titus, Ryker, and Atticus; and a brother, Richard Koth of Sioux City.
Preceding him in death were his parents; a daughter, Mary Koth; and a sister, Patricia Koth.
