Obituary

TOLEDO-Janet Ann Johnson, age 71, of Toledo, died on March 17, 2007 in Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center due to a sudden illness. A Funeral Liturgy will be held Tuesday, March 20, 2007 at 10:30 AM at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Tama with Father Michael Mescher as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Tama. Visitation will be held Monday, March 19, 2007 from 5-7 PM at the Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Janet Ann Johnson was born on July 19, 1935, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, the daughter of Kermit C. and Mary L. (Allen) Hamilton.
She received her education in the Parochial schools in Fort Dodge and graduated from Heelan High School in Sioux City.
Janet was united in marriage to Duane Johnson in Sioux City, Iowa. They were parents of one son, Dennis and were later divorced.
She was employed for numerous years in various bookkeeping and accounting positions. Janet moved from Iowa to Round Rock, Texas in 1982, where she was employed by Pena Swaze Accounting firm. Several years later, she moved to Burnet, Texas.
Janet enjoyed working for her church in many different capacities. She was bookkeeper and receptionist at Our Mother of Sorrows Church. She was also Eucharistic Minister and served on the Parish Council. Janet taught C.C.D. classes for eight years, which she loved. As her health deteriorated, she resigned her Parish duties and in 2002, she returned to Toledo to reside with her mother. Janet enjoyed ceramics and giving gifts to others. She loved animals of all kinds and especially feeding the birds and squirrels. She also loved children and older people as well as her pet cats. Janet was a very loving, kind, and generous person who loved God and the faith she lived.
Janet was preceded in death by her father; her husband; and one brother, Michael Hamilton.
Survivors include one son; Dennis Johnson of Toledo; her mother, Mary Miller of Toledo; three sisters, Judith Chamberlin of Clinton, Joan McKown of Toledo, and Mary (Tom) Decker of Albion; and several nieces and nephews.
