Janet Mae Kriegel, 81, of Tama, passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at Sunny Hill Care Center in Tama under the care of Hospice Compassus. A Private Family Graveside Service will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Tama.

Janet was born on October 2, 1942, in Knoxville, Iowa, the daughter of Kenneth and Vivian (Balmer) Karr. She grew up in Pella and attended Pella High School.

On August 22, 1981, she was united in marriage to Leonard "Hank" Kriegel Jr. in Toledo, Iowa. Janet was a hairdresser in Pella and later in Toledo. She was fond of her cats and enjoyed gardening. In their younger years, Janet and Hank enjoyed motorcycle riding and going to car shows.

Survivors include her step-children, Jim (Valerie) Kriegel of Kellogg, Jeff (Linda) Kriegel of Boone and Jodi (Rick) Hopper of Toledo; eight grandchildren, Nichole (Eric) Speth, Jonathan (Sierra) Kriegel, Benjamin (Gabrielle) Kriegel, Allison Kriegel, Nicholas Kriegel, Nate Kriegel, Rick (Ashleigh) Hopper and Emily Hopper; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Karla (Ron) Breckinridge; sisters-in-law, Sally Willett and Ronda Kriegel both of Tama.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Hank on December 25, 2022; grandson, Thomas Hopper; sister, Viola Dehne; brothers-in-law, John Willett and Mark Kriegel; sister-in-law, Anna Lea (Jerry) Arnold; and niece, Ann Willett.
