Janet J. Whitebreast, 81, of Tama, passed away Thursday, June 18, 2026 at Sunny Hill Care Center in Tama. Visitation will be held Saturday, June 20, 2026, from 1-3 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.

Janet was born on November 27, 1944, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the daughter of Frieda Blackcloud.

She graduated from Tama High School.

Janet worked at John Deere, Lennox, Meskwaki Casino, and Meskwaki Settlement School. She loved yard work, gardening, and being outdoors. Janet liked Motown, Rod Stewart, and Smokey Robinson. She also liked Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her grandchildren, Dirk Whitebreast of Seattle, WA, Sheena Whitebreast, Byron Wanatee, Monroe Wanatee, Delcie Whitebreast, Lauryn Whitebreast Keahna, Dexter Whitebreast all of Tama, and Destiny Whitebreast of Wisconsin Dells; other grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several siblings and their families.

She was preceded in death by her mother; grandmother; children, Dena Rae Whitebreast, Ira Dean Whitebreast, and Danette Ina Whitebreast; granddaughter, Darcy Jo Whitebreast Keahna; and several siblings.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
