Obituary

TAMA-Jean Elaine Griswold, age 78, of Tama, died on February 21, 2007 in Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines due to a stroke. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, February 26, 2007 at 11:00 AM at Living Faith United Methodist Church in Tama with Pastor Jerry Avise-Rouse officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Tama. Visitation will be Monday, February 26, 2007 from 9 AM until the time of service at the church.
Jean Elaine Griswold was born on March 11, 1928, in Tama, Iowa, the daughter of Roy V. and Lulu (Mohrfield) Smith.
She graduated from Tama High School in 1946.
On May 4, 1947, she was united in marriage to John Thomas Griswold at the Tama Methodist Parsonage.
She formerly worked for Gambles Store and True Value in Tama.
Jean was a member of the Living Faith United Methodist Church in Tama, where she was involved in UMW, church choir, and various committees. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Oak Hill Cemetery Association. Jean was very active in the Community Clothes Closet as a volunteer.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, John in 1978; and one brother, Charles "Bud" Smith.
Survivors include one daughter, Margaret Griswold of Marshalltown; one son, Thomas (Marianne) Griswold of Sidney, Ohio; one sister, Shirley (Donald) Polka of Marshalltown; five grandchildren, Brad (Cherilyn) Rebik, Wes Rebik, Matt (Chauncy) Rebik, Stacey Griswold, and Amy Dey; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be directed to Living Faith United Methodist Church in Tama.
