March 3, 1940 – August 5, 2022
Jean Kosnar Miller, of Ankeny, IA and formerly of Clutier, IA passed away on Friday, August 5, 2022 after having a major stroke in April. A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, August 13, 2022 at 10:30 AM at St. Paul Catholic Church in Traer with Father Anthony Boahen Nketiah as celebrant. A Private Family Interment will follow at Oneida Cemetery in rural Clutier.
Jean was born on March 3, 1940, the daughter of Evelyn Caslavka Kosnar and Harry Kosnar. She grew up in Clutier and graduated from Clutier High School in the class of 1957. She attended the University of Iowa and graduated in 1961. She was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha.
She fell in love and married Arthur Miller in 1962. They had 4 children and lived in several small Iowa towns; including Bagley, Guthrie Center and Clutier. In 1983, the family hosted Birgit Wasch, a German foreign exchange "daughter". After Art passed away, Jean moved to Ankeny in 2014.
She worked as a dental hygienist for years before becoming a C.N.A. at Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer, IA.
Jean loved to travel around the US and internationally. She enjoyed going to casinos and loved the bumper car ride at Adventureland. Her most recent hobby was playing various card games with neighbors.
Jean is survived by her daughter Connie (Rick) Neilson of Overland Park, KS, her daughter Carol (Jim) Horlacher of Lenexa, KS, son John Miller of Des Moines, IA, and exchange daughter, Birgit Wasch Renschler, Aalen, Germany. She was also loved by her grandchildren; Erick Neilson of San Antonio, TX; Brynn Neilson of Manchester, New Hampshire, Courtney Neilson of Wichita, KS; Nick and Tate Horlacher of Lenexa, KS. Jean will also be missed by her sister Jo Ann (Don) Shannon and their family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Art, and her oldest daughter, Tracey.
She will be loved and missed.
