Jean Marie Morehouse, 91, of Toledo, passed away Monday, November 11, 2024 at Sunny Hill Care Center in Tama. It was her wish to be cremated and she will be laid to rest next to her husband at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo.

Jean was born on November 13, 1932, in South Bend, IN, the daughter of Herbert and Alma Kurzhal.

On July 13, 1957, she was united in marriage to Jack E. Morehouse in Lakeville, IN. Jean and Jack formerly worked at the Iowa Juvenile Home as cottage parents. She was then employed at Sunny Hill Care Center in Tama, retiring in 1997. Jean was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She loved to crochet, making things for people, and gardening.

Survivors include her son, James Brewer of Grinnell; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Brewer of Toledo; four grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and one sister, Eileen Haskins of Lakeville, IN.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Jack in 1995; son, Joseph Brewer; sister, Geraldine Pellow; brother, Ralph Kurzhal; and brother-in-law, Richard Haskins.
